Yellowfoot Chanterelle
Craterellus tubaeformis
The yellowfoot chanterelle is recognized by its often golden orange coloration and growth in troops on the ground. It has a relatively long stem relative to the small cap size. Like many mushrooms, the yellowfoot’s features such as size and coloration can vary significantly from one mushroom to the next.
Key features to focus on are the general shape of the gills which are more blunt and rounded than most other gilled mushrooms. They might be somewhat veiny, or interconnected.
Mushrooms in the genera Chrysomphalina and Xeromphalina can look similar but have thinner, not hollow, and more more uniform stipes.
