The spring season is still young and the past couple of weeks have been relatively cool too. After a couple warm stretches we are starting to find some interesting mushrooms showing up around wood chips and river bottoms. On Saturday we are going to meet up in Snohomish County to see what we can find.
Find some mushrooms this weekend, then join us Sunday at 8pm to share what you found and practice basic identification. Learn from what others share too. On Thursday we will talk about general foraging guidelines, rules for different areas, general ethics, and other considerations one might consider when foraging. These can be important for understanding where you can forage, but also help guide how much to take, ways to protect the forest, and discuss differing opinions on these topics.
This spring intro series is a 6-week course that covers the basics of spring foraging including key mushrooms, identification, habitats, choosing locations, guidelines for picking, and much more. The Spring Intro Series meetings are for those enrolled in the spring intro series. We began this series on Apr 4 and one can join at any time. All meetings are recorded and new materials are added weekly including videos and guides on spring mushrooms, using a variety of mapping tools, steps for identification, and where mushrooms are fruiting now. All recordings and materials are available through 2024.
