Private Mushroom Tours Your group, your date — a guided foray built around you
Every public tour I run can also run privately: same forest, same hands-on format, but the calendar works around you instead of the other way around. You bring the people, I bring the plan — where we go depends on what’s fruiting when your date comes around.
Private tours are the right fit when the group itself is the point: a family with kids who set the pace, a birthday or celebration, a team outing, or visiting friends you want to show what a Northwest forest actually does in the fall. They’re also the answer when the scheduled dates simply don’t line up with your calendar.
How It Works
Pick a Window
Send two or three dates that could work. I’ll confirm one based on my calendar and what the season is doing — some weeks the forest is simply better than others, and I’ll tell you which.
Pick an Area — or Leave It to Me
Darrington, Skykomish, North Bend, and Greenwater are the regular areas, and other parts of the Cascades are possible by request. If you don’t have a preference, I’ll steer us to whichever area is producing.
The Foray Itself
The same working tour as the public dates: reading habitat, working through every find in the field, and taking home what you pick — with the focus tilted toward whatever your group cares about most.
Simple Booking
No ticket checkout — I’ll send a quote based on your group size and location, and an invoice once we’ve settled the details. Gift certificates are available too.

Request a Private Tour
Tell me roughly when you’d like to get out, how many people you’re bringing, and anything the group especially wants from the day. I’ll reply with a date, an area, and a quote.
Solo foragers up to groups of about ten work well; if your group is larger, ask — it can often be arranged.
Before You Go
Meetup: We’ll settle the meetup point together when the date is confirmed — no waiting on an automated email.
Weather: Tours run rain or shine in typical Pacific Northwest conditions. If unsafe weather is forecast we reschedule.
Dogs: Usually no dogs on national forest tours — but ask, since a private group has more flexibility on where we go.
Kids: Private tours are the best format for younger kids: the pace is your family’s, not a group’s. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Bring: Shoes for off-trail walking, weather-appropriate clothing, a charged phone with offline maps, a basket or breathable bag, and water and snacks.
