Mid June in Darrington, WA

8 Mile Creek (48.15681, -121.60915)
June 18 2021 Dry. Hit snow just above Three O’clock Rock. 

Huckleberry Mountain (48.26901, -121.34937)
June 19 Moderate mushroom activity but the active band was pretty narrow; maybe 3500-4500′ over the weekend. Snow at 4800′. A morel, gyromitra, sarcosphaera, cortinarius, and amanitas. Thimbleberries, coralroot. grouse.

NF-27 Rat Trap Pass – Challenging. The road is a mess of potholes until you cross the river and head uphill. Rat Trap Pass was still under a decent amount of snow @ 3000′ and I’m not sure what it looked like coming in from the north. The snow is likely around for another week or two. NF 2710 was nice. I found amanitas, cortinarius, a puffball, and some others. Overall, the road was such a challenge to drive on that I would probably look for something closer to the paved section of road.

I really didn’t know what to expect on a warm weekend a week following a drenching rain. I walked the 8 mile creek trail (48.15681, -121.60915) on Friday evening and didn’t find much.
