Washington foraging is driven by elevation and by fire. East of the Cascade crest, in Okanogan-Wenatchee and Colville country, the burn perimeters, filterable by fire year, show where last year’s fires will fruit morels, and soil temperature and snow cover tell you when each elevation band is ready. West of the crest, soil moisture and 14-day rainfall time the fall flush of chanterelles, boletes, and hedgehogs, and the public-lands layer separates National Forest and DNR ground from private timberland before you drive.
Oregon Mushroom Hunting Map
Oregon adds a second morel country to the map: the Blue Mountains burn zones of eastern Oregon in the Wallowa-Whitman, Umatilla, Malheur, and Ochoco forests, plus the Willamette Valley’s cottonwood and ash river bottoms and the Coast Range and west-Cascade forests. The same layers apply statewide: burn perimeters by year, snowmelt at elevation, soil temperature and moisture, and public-lands boundaries across Oregon’s National Forests and BLM ground.
