Gratitude

As we wrap up our five month trek, we are overwhelmed with gratitude to the dozens of people who supported us and for the circumstances that came together to make this the trip of a lifetime. We are incredibly thankful.

Thanks to all of the friends and family who encouraged us from the start – responding to our initial conversations about the trek with “that’s awesome!” And not “are you sure this is a good idea?”

Thanks for the delicious nutritional support and love sent in care packages from Sharyn (x2!), Huy (x2!), Lisa, Megan, Cheryl, Carmen, Elise, Erika, Koren, Rinn, and Sara. Every calorie was thoroughly enjoyed.

Thank you to the friends who made your own treks to visit us on the trail! It was so fun to see Pat & Carl in Etna, Huy & Katie on Mirror lake, and our welcoming party of Abby, Stefan, Jeff A., Sam, Kurt, and Tom at Snoqualmie Pass.

Thank you to the trail angels and ride-givers for the encouragement, comfort, and critical logistics support without which this would be a much more difficult trek for the thousands of hikers who undertake it each year.

Thank you to the residents in towns near the trail who open your communities and homes to us smelly hikers.

Thank you to Jeff C. for the music recommendations and to Whitney for taking care of our cats and house!

We are also grateful to our past selves for the bravery to set off on this walk, for the discipline to save the funds needed, and for building the communications and support of each other to make this an incredible adventure with only a few bumps along the way.
