Words for describing mushroom stems

When thinking about the stem of a mushroom, your list of descriptors might be somewhat limited. Long, short, thick, fragile… but maybe not a lot more. Learning more about the unique features in mushroom stems can be really helpful for improving your ability to even notice these aspects.

Here is a list of words that mycologists have used to describe the stems of mushrooms. If you notice a larger word that is unfamiliar to you, you might take a moment to look it up to learn something you could have been missing.
